1. Introduction
Welcome to Solr. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Solr mobile application (the "Service").
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by all the terms of this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service.
2. Who We Are
Solr is a screen time management and personal growth mobile application that helps users reduce their scrolling habit by replacing it with positive affirmations. The app blocks selected apps on your device and requires completing an affirmation (spoken, typed, or handwritten) to temporarily unlock them.
Our contact information: hello@getsolr.app
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information You Provide to Us
- Account Information: When you register for an account, we collect information necessary to set up and maintain your account, such as your email address, name, and other identifying information provided through third-party authentication services (Apple, Google).
- Profile Information: During onboarding, we collect your first name, gender, and life improvement categories to personalize your affirmation experience. This data is stored on our servers and locally on your device.
- User Content: Information you provide when using the Service, such as completed affirmations, mood entries, and personal goals.
3.2 Information We Collect Automatically
- Usage Data: Information about your activity on the Service, including completed affirmations, mood entries, progress metrics, blocking sessions, and analytics events.
- Onboarding Quiz Responses: During onboarding, we collect responses such as your age, daily phone usage estimate, habits you want to change, and personal growth preferences. This data is stored locally on your device only and is not sent to our servers.
3.3 App Blocking and Screen Time Data
Solr uses Apple's Screen Time / Family Controls framework to block apps you select. The apps you choose to block are stored locally on your device only as opaque tokens provided by Apple. Specifically:
- We cannot see which apps you select — Apple's system uses privacy-preserving tokens that do not reveal app identities to us
- No app selection data is transmitted — only the duration of blocking sessions is synced to your account
- You control which apps are blocked — you can change your selection at any time through the App
3.4 Camera, Microphone, and Speech Data
Solr uses your device's camera, microphone, and speech recognition to validate affirmations. All processing happens entirely on your device using Apple's built-in frameworks:
- Spoken affirmations: Processed using Apple's built-in speech recognition, entirely on your device. No audio leaves your device.
- Handwritten affirmations: Processed using Apple's built-in text recognition, entirely on your device. No images leave your device.
- Typed affirmations: Validated locally on your device.
No audio recordings, photos, or text are sent to any external service for processing. No audio or images are stored on your device or our servers after validation is complete.
3.5 Information from Third Parties
We may receive information about you from third-party services when you choose to connect your account with those services (Apple or Google for authentication).
